Does anybody know if the Waddell parking lot is open or not?

They are trying to restrict vehicle access but I've seen some debate on whether this means the beaches are actually "closed".

Some of the counties are definitely closing their beaches, and this article I saw referenced on nwkite mentions Santa Cruz, San Mateo, etc. (at time of its writing): https://www.surfline.com/surf-news/los- ... sure/81733

Waddell does not have a physical gate, IIRC. I may do a drive over there tomorrow (have a long overdue errand in Santa Cruz to drop something off), although likely remain mostly self-quarantined in my van, as I have a lot of head-down writing and computer work to catch up on. There are a few other county parks I'm checking out without gates as well... if too many people I'll come home and keep camping out in my driveway (which is often quieter than my house).

The lot is closed, but two people were out yesterday and people were walking up and down the beach. Remains to be seen if anyone will be/is being ticketed for kiting.

I was there last Wed, and the lot was closed with a fence. However, a ton of people parked along PCH and just walked down to the beach. The 20m lines do make it easy to maintain the social distance though.

What about Dillon? Closed too?

Still closed last Friday but windsurfers and kiters out and parked along PCH.

Scotts Creek was parkable; we watched someone use a wing in double-overhead sets - impressive.

Most of PCH by Waddell has cones on the shoulder now. Scotts is parkable though.
