can anybody tell me where the launch is for the kites I see in the Hercules area? I work in Rodeo and can't make it to Sherman in time to get an after worrk session. Any tips or suggestions for that launch would be appreciated. Are there sand bags there for self launch? Or is there a sandy beach?

There is a small walking path just north of the City of Hercules Wastewater Treatmant Plant. On Low tide, there is a rocky, sandy Muddy area where you can possibly launch. Haven't kited there, but scoped it out with Maui Mike...
San Pablo would be a great place to kite. Launches need some further scoping out!

I windsurfed in Rodeo years ago. Take Pacific to cross the tracks and take a left. Sketchy parking back then. I think the launch would work for a kite and during an ebb, the swell can get good.

I grew up out there and thought that it would be a perfect place to kite. I spent my whole childhood fishing and swimming everywhere from Point Pinole to Hercules. Let me know what you find.

The answer is in your post! It's Point Pinole... good on North winds too...dewey wrote:I grew up out there and thought that it would be a perfect place to kite. I spent my whole childhood fishing and swimming everywhere from Point Pinole to Hercules. Let me know what you find.

Thanks for the help guys. I was in the area last summer at a wedding party and saw kites in the air but didn't go down to see where they were launching. On google earth it looked to me that they were east of the waste water treatment plant. I will check it out. I know that the weather radio often shows that as being the windiest part of the bay.
