waddell parking lot erosion

Post by drroc » Fri Feb 26, 2016 10:58 am

I was at the waddell parking lot two weeks ago and noticed very heavy erosion. The bluff is getting awfully close to the large stones that line the parking lot. I am curious if this has happened before and the parking lot was rebuilt, or if this is an unprecedented erosion.

It's definitely eroding:-( Not sure if you noticed the lack of sand on the beach, too. It must be a result of an active storm season, or perhaps from all the rain this winter? I know in Baja the rain brings sand to the beach through from the arroyos, but that may not be the case for us here. Scotts Creek is flowing too, definitely changes the character of the beach.

Yes, the sand was totally gone, and there was just a large exposed rock. The entire beach has also a ton of loose stones, which will bad news for run away surfboards...

Was it that bad after 1998 el Nino (I mean is there any chance to recover)?
