What is up with all the people at Sherman and right on the launch beach? Are there not better less windy places to bring your family? Launching at what is already a sketchy launch with a bunch of little kids and dogs in the water is just a recipe for disaster
Also there's not any better place to tie up a boat than the two islands? Really? These are some of the best flat water spots out there and the reason some of us make the long drive.
I get it's a free country and all but come on, I wouldn't just go park in the middle of someones football game.

Re: Is Sherman a Kite or Family beach?
Ahhh..... It's both.
Not sure where this sense of entitlement comes from.
When entering Sherman the sign says county PARK, not kite-park.
"Multi use Area"..we only use the beach briefly coming & going
What ?..No one else shud use the beach, just because for the minute it takes to
access the water (where spend our time, hopefullly )
The football inalagy doesn't work & makes you/us sound like a dick(s).
Ok, so IF there is a potential for bystander injury & sure there is.
Who do you think is causing this potential risk....you,us.
Here's an inalagy...
If you live In glass houses..don't throw stones.

Pipedragon, you're right! The proletariat must get bored sitting on a beach in a county park in warm weather. What a shame you had to waste your long drive when you could be 1) making money or 2) shaving the hairs off your bourgeois sphincter. Its really noble of you to even entertain the masses by mowing the lawn and pulling knarley tricks right in front of the beach. What is more, everyone can see what nice kites you own!
But fear not for your woes good sir! To improve everyone's beach days and make things more interesting for you especially, I have a solution! When it gets crowded like that, the Sherman Island Karma Association will henceforth be distributing hook-knives mounted on the end of broom handles to beach goers, and will be awarding a golden doubloon to the first to claim the white whale.

Missed the meds this morning? I think pipedragon has a valid point but the thing is that the families who come to the beach don't know that it's dangerous and I would imagine it would be hard to explain. They have every right to be there just like everyone else. The bigger issue is that we have people who have very little skill coming to sherman and that's when I'm really worried that something bad might happen. Anyone kiting at sherman shouldn't have any issue going in and out with a few tents on the beach or a few people swimming around but I notoriously see guys sitting in the water not being able to go and tomahawk their kites onto the bushes multiple times in a row. I'm not saying I'm any better as I do kite close to the beach and on occasion tomahawk my brand spanking new vegases close to the beach just to make sure everyone knows I get new gear before it even comes out.
The boats have always parked in that spot and I don't see a big deal, yeah, it would be great if they didn't but it would also be great if I didn't see half the mugs I see there every time I go but unfortunately it can't be christmas every day.
