The pict was just a google image for a Green SS Rally. It was a play on the whole great wave of kanagawa thing with the Green Rally drawn in for Christmas :-\

I'm finding Slingshot is actually pretty big though down here on the gold coast

Paddy if you are who I am thinkin you are you shoulda bought my Obsession! Kite was still mint and I ended up lettin it go at a killer price

Anyway I just found out about this today but if you need a brand new kite and don't quite have a budget check out Switch. From what I saw on their website it is unreal. Seriously amazed by their prices--500-600 bucks for a brand new kite due to their distribution model (only selling direct).

There was a guy flying a Nitro and it looked pretty Slingshot Rally to me. I also saw quite a few buzzing around Mokuleia (I assume partially thanks to Felix). Cheers mate!

Disclaimer I do not distribute for Switch (obviously--see above :]) and I am in no way an affiliated team rider etc.

My Rallies attracted some attention in Maui, several N---h (local brand) kiters approached me with questions about them when I was able to get out and ride while they were stuck on the beach.

One had told me it wasn't windy enough to launch, another had said he could barely stay upwind on his 14M Park. I was on my 10. :P )

Didn't see any Switch kites in MauiI .

It says 10M, but it's really a 9.

Bulldog,

You missed me by about a week...flying a 9m Switch Method. Waves were fun....and didn't miss the 5/3 wetsuit.

I'd be interested to hear from any of the Switch kite folks what they think of the bar.

I looked at the bar recently and thought the safety release looked like it might have a tendency to get sand in it and make pushing the release away difficult. It seemed like there wasn't much room for any dirt or sand to get in there and might cause it to jam?

Any Switch riders wanna share their thoughts?

Hey cool! The same thing happened to me here when I was out on my charger! There are a ton of Slingshot guys here and they all were asking me about Naish when I came in and was the only one who was able to ride the lightwind. Slingshot kites must be more powerful than Naish in Hawai'i and in South Florida it must be vice versa

Tomer I think the fact that Switch does not wholesale drives the price down (because the consumer is paying wholesale price or better)--with that you obviously would have no dealer support being an owner of the kite. They might also not perform well because they don't have patented technologies like Sigma, Split-Strut Construction, or the performance of a C-Kite with the depower level of an SLE.

Kirk I am very interested in the Switch bar as well--I like having independently accessible leader lines for low-wind relaunch and for self-lands (we've discussed that before). Not to mention being able to afford 2 bars per season (at their killer 250 buck pricepoint) and refreshing my bar mid-season would be great as far as safety goes. As long as their gear has on par reliability it will allow frequent riders to keep their stuff fresh (because you can buy 2 vs. 1). I rode 4-5 days / week March - October last year and I can put mileage on gear fast. If I can get twice the gear for the same pricepoint that is a game changer from a safety perspective for the kite industry. The only thing their model is missing in my opinion is a gear recycle program (to encourage people to continually be on fresh gear and turning in their old). If they had that in place they would entirely transform the safety of the kite industry

Rob has a killer set of Switch Combats--any input Rob?

The Switch bar is similar to the North bar. The quick release is almost identical(CL). Depower is via a cleat which can moved either closer or farther away and is above the bar. The bar length can be adjusted to 55 or 45. I have used mine since April and is still going strong. I run 20 meter lines. There is a little sand but not enough to worry about. The price is cool and another thing to check is the parts page. What I did is basically bought all the parts and built a new bar for about $100.00. They don't sell the leaders and some pigtails but I had some extra lying around. Of course, you'll need lines but they sell those too. Good deal compared to paying $400.00-$500.00 snaps for a new bar. I hope this helps.

And no trouble with sand getting in between the plastic release parts and becoming hard to release?
