what i know about kitesurfing...

1. jumps are as never as high as u think
2. waves are never as big as you think
3. girls are never as interested as u say
4. just kite!

now of course, my huge jumps, big waves, etc, are the truth...

And don't forget the perspective of where this was taken was from the cliff, 40 ft up, so the angle does not show the true height either. There were quite a few 20+ foot waves.

You guys look so graceful and peaceful out there. Really impressive and really inspirational. I hope I can get out on days like that one day. Thanks for sharing!

Like tomorrow, you mean...

How tall is a poleboard mast? Not 20 ft., that's for sure.

At least one of the waves in Eric's video has a twenty foot face, assuming the rider is taller than 5 ft.

I'm glad to know there are options out there on big days other than "supersize me", personally. I'll be perfectly happy to leave the big sets to the guys who shred, and ride the sloppy seconds myself.

Yes, tomorrow is looking good! Luckily I have the afternoon off... Time to play!
Yeah, the 'smaller' stuff was super fun. The big ones were work just to get out around. Quite a few chicken jibes. The few really big rides always seem to escape the camera...
Plus, I lost a contact about 15 minutes into my session. 3 hours of riding with one very blurry eye... well worth the minor headache. Extras now live in my kit for when I am a dope and forget them...

Paul,

Masts are roughly 14.5 to 15' ( 400 to 460 cm)

Who needs depth perception when you're kiting in the waves, anyway

Yeah, the boss gave me the afternoon off tomorrow, too (oh yeah, I am the boss...)

solid over-mast waves were comming through saterday. Aselect group of rippers were KILLING IT, many (like me) waited and watched and played it safe.
I only caught one bomb, fell flat on my face (on the wave face) and concluded I was unpreparded to handle the conciquences of another failure.
Seemed like a super puss-out at the time but in retrospect I think I made a good choice. No-one should knowingly venture into conditions over there head (skill level), especially if there actions will cause others to place themself in harms way (providing rescue).
Sh$% happens, we will find ourselfs in trouble from time to time. YES, We should try to help each other to the best of our ability when possable but in conditions like Saterday your basicly on your own. Dont intentionally place yourself in trouble unless you intend to deal with it yourself. Remember OTHERS may die or get serously injuried trying to help you so dont kite STUPID.
