speaking of locals, dont forget the awesome people and kites of Caution out of Santa Cruz. I don't think they have an actual shop, but you could just go to Waddell when it's windy.

since when is L2k in Alameda? I understand that they are now Jeff/KWS ? Right or did I miss something ... well after browsing into it, now Jeff still has his website while L2K lists Jeffs address as the second store. Confusing but tells the story.

A couple of times I was there during sales I listened to what they tell beginners and it was total nonsense. Just for the heck of it I asked them some questions and also got similar responses. They either are completely clueless or say anything to sell. It looks like it’s a diving store that got kite gear because its popular.

So if you know what you are doing go and get a deal. But don’t ask anything (except for price match)

elli, I'm assuming you are talking about Aquan Sports, because the advice and service from KWS and L2K have always been spot on!

The Alameda store is now the new Live2Kite store. Live2Kite now has two stores - Larkspur (Greenbrae) and Alameda. KWS is no longer operational, L2K took over the lease.

Their retail shop is based in La Selva:

Looks like they have their 9m mayhem ($500) and 11 mayhem ($550) on sale.
But if you want to talk to them personally, you can always catch them at Waddell.

I got the same impression with Aquan sports. I called them up a couple of years ago about custom made paddle boards that can be used for waist to shoulder high surf, no one in the shop at that time of my call knew what the hell I was talking about. They kept pushing me into the Joe Bark long distance boards (the skinny ones). The shop seriously thought I did not have a clue of what I was talking about.
