I am painting half of the kicker sometime this week....
Offer to paint the other half is open to L2K if you would like a fresh coat of orange on the other side...
Safety orange is the color for at least one side....

Why go against the wishes of the majority for something that is of interest to the minority? The people who use it can be counted on two hands.
Put it on leeward side of first island, between 2nd and 3rd island or 60 yards upwind of the launch beach. To everyone who doesn't use it, it's an obstacle. Two different ramps have been at the second island over two seasons and most of the time no one uses it.
Put it right at the point where everyone jumps at 3rd, see how that goes over...

Right below third island would be sweet...lots of butter up there and out of the way of those that want to keep 1st & 2nd islands clear for butter and boosting....

Below the third island would be killer, lots more room, butter water, great wind and easy to relaunch kites too, the second island gets crowded enough already...

that would be awesome!!!!
Building obstacles is a ton of work. Setting up obstacles is a ton of work. Ollie is right, the majority of people won't hit the kicker, but I don't think that means that the majority of people won't appreciate the kicker and the effort involved. We all know the obstacles won't be in place the entire season, but more likely just a couple days here and there.
I think putting it out a couple times in a flatwater spot (like below the second island) is fine for a few sessions. below the 3rd island isn't a bad option either tho.
If LMG (and friends) is gonna go through the herculean effort of putting it together, I say we support it wherever he wants to put it (as long as it's not there for weeks on end obviously)
Some folks might prefer there never be a kicker or slider behind the island, but I'm all for growing the sport and trying something new. This is clearly a growth area in kiteboarding (see the SSS, kitepunks, the SliderProject and the core slider jam) there might be quite a few more folks interested in hitting obstacles than we realize....
To be honest, kickers and sliders are actually pretty fun! And well within the realm of possibility of anyone able to do a modest raley or unhooked trick.

Re: Amateur kiteboarding competitions
The kicker is already built- where it goes I REALLY don't care...
YOU guys can figure that stuff out-
Hopefully you'll make it easy on yourselves cuz I'm sell'n my ski at the end of the month and then your on your own....
I consider it a public donation, local kiters will be in charge of it.... Everyone who uses it, uses it at there own risk.
The slider idea will be scraped,

Don't scrap the slider idea! If you want to do it and others enjoy it, go for it! I, along with many others, whether they use it or not, appreciate the effort. I don't mean to sound uptight or non-appreciative about it, sorry, it just seems like we can be flexible about where it's at. Maybe try a new spot for a bit and free up the island? But whatever the popular vote is works for me.

Re: Amateur kiteboarding competitions
If 80% of the kiters don't like it, and some even consider it a problem... I'm paying the bills and taking heat....!
Thanks for the Wake-Up call,
Greg
