Re: Mentor a Soloist
Hi all,
I have been kiting a lot at the upper launch at 3rd. I have been watching over new comers all along after my second season. I spend way too much time on the beach before I go out anyway:-)
Please if you need any assistance or questions about the spot don't hesitate to come by and ask.
The only disclaimer I have is that I can't spend all afternoon on the beach watching out for everyone cause I do want to kite too:-)
If you feel the need to have me helping you, send me a PM and I'll will meet you at a specific time and make sure that I'll assist you in what ever you need.
Thanks
paul

Right on guys. That's the spirit!
I'd guess 90% of the new folks who need help/mentorship aren't reading this forum. But the fact that several of you have posted your willingness to spend some time with newbs here (online) tells us that you're probably also 'that kind of guy' on the beach who new people can chat with and possibly get a bit of help/advice from as well.
It's all about payin' it forward...

Here's the thing about mentoring - most of you already probably know this from work: it doesn't work unless the padowan is willing to listen.

I resemble that remark, (sometimes!) :axe:windhorny wrote:that's where brute force and yelling come into play.
But look, it worked pretty well on me and look how it worked on you.... :D
Honestly Yuri, I'm sorry, really I am (thats that PUSSY Greg talking) O:)

Where do I sign up? As of last weekend I finally feel ready to kite without an instructor but would be stoked for a little guidance. Tell me when and where to show up. Can't go upwind consistently so probably no good for 3rd, but maybe the wind gods will be kind and Alameda will be good.

eteamer,
Give us a sense of you... where/who did you take lessons from? How much time do you have on the water? Do you do other wind/board related sports? Where do you live? What's your schedule like?
Alameda and/or Bodega Harbor are probably your best bets for now.
I'm sure we can hook you up!
