i think the kiter getting passed ,on the same corse has right away
so if you hauling the mail, and your going to pass a kiter going the same way, thay have the right away

try not to get all jacked up about right aways
kiters have no right aways
stay out of everyones way.

My solution to a crowd is just to kite farther from shore....it's a big Bay! You know how to swim, right?
just my $.02

Oh Narly 1 I am with you my brutha...Absolute right of ways are great to talk about on the forum, just be aware of your surroundigs, give the brothers and sisters a wider berth than you think might be needed and be willing to sacrifice the fact that "I AM RIGHT AND THEY ARE WRONG" for the sake of safety.

Sometimes it is wiser to let someone who might be new or not quite sure of what's up go by and maybe (with an absolute sense of aloha and good will) educate them about how it works latter. Key point :if you didn't actually get hit don't let it ruin your whole session .My experience (myself having ben on the being chastised side of things) is that the person who is "uneducated" will be more embarrassed and feel worse about doing the wrong thing than I can make them feel.

So a "bro...let me tell you how to make things easier" works best(smile works good while attempting this).

If the person is not receptive to a friendly reminder borrow the bat from KCliff(real bat for Holligans, Wiffle bat for clueless kiteboarders) or look for my FJ at the parking lot ...I have a blowdart and a ninja outfit you can borrow...

Factory...hell you know I am from Brazil, favorite kid passtime is kite fighting at the beach, you cut the other guys line the kite is yours. We used to pound coca cola bottles into powder, mix it with glue and run it down the lines...talk about learning your right of way rules quick...sorry pall your new Rhino belongs to me....hehehehe (CPR & First Aid out of the way, next free class Line Glassing 101)

Ref right of way......

For those that are fairly new to the sport, it is definitely worthwhile learning the rules of right of way.......you do need to know port and starboard if you're going to be around boats, windsurfers, etc. It's important to know right of way, but probably more important not to insist on it. Charlie's right.....kiteboarders are always wrong, just like the skier/snowboarder thing.

Think about right hand forward = wind coming over right side of your board = starboard tack = right of way.

And......if you're sailing downwind of somebody, would you please remember that the guy upwind is probably waiting for you to transition before you hit the beach? If you're new to the sport, it's probably better for you to do those transitions away from solid ground anyway.....but anyway keep in mind what other kiters are likely to do and anticipate it.

Especially if they have glass lines like Marujo.
