I was just looking at the photos of the Cabrinha Race Series that were just posted. Looks like most riders are on surfboards, but these cannot be wave boards. Are these all custom boards?
What is the fastest surfboard style board available for kiteboarding? I am assuming that the North Rocketfish, which is made for waves, is kind of slow cause it has alot of rocker.

The course racing boards have a very fast rocker and actually do really well in light wind. Nothing else will take you upwind as fast in the light stuff. That said, they're not all versatile enough for non-racing.

For the lightwind fork in the road, get a mountain bike.

Re: at a fork in the road
So after doing some research, I came to the conclusion that what I am looking for is a freeride/slalom surfboard for kiteboarding. I don't think that there is currently anything out there being mass produced, but I would assume eventually it will happen.
They could take a Starboard 93 Dram and shrink it down to 6' and you would have a great all around light wind board.

Re: at a fork in the road
Has anyone ridden this board. I am looking at this as a potential lightwind freeride, flat rocker board.

I was referring to ED with the red Cabal skim for sale!wjb wrote:I am sure you are referring to the guy in the ad and not my avatar. I will let Hunter know. Yojimbo, the Nobile skim w/fins is a lightwind machine; I have been using one in Baja for a while now, and it's a great thing to have when it's almost windy enough to have fun but not quite.
I have a bunch of surfboards, and have kited on my 9' longboard, but for frisky fun vs. mowing the lawn, check out a skim w/fins....they are fun on waves, too. Have Fun, GM
