i agree, the bachelorette party wasnt the only cause. We partied similarly the previous weekend except it was harmess, no stripper poles, no drugs and no hired "windsurfers". Just agroup of people with reggae. If the music bothered anyone then, i'm sure it would have gotten de-tuned for this weekend.

This weekend just went another level and the blame isn't with "kiteboarders". Just us by the boat ramp, and whoever else that added their grain of sand... and the iffy wind, cause we didnt kite nearly as much as last weekend so energy ran high. This is my second weekend camping there and i don't drink, but i definitely chipped in. As for the crazy chick screaming in the middle of the night, she was on who knows what high at astronautical levels dancing like an uncoordinated michael jackson. We should have stepped in and removed her. And who broke the salsa code?!! [-X

I agree, the bachelorettes didn't do anything wrong so let's not blame them. I think Sherman is looked at like Burning man, where anything goes. But it isn't and we take it for granted. So here we are faced with a mandatory change. I too am guilty of having mini bus parties until 2am. One thing i do notice with sound up there is that the wind carries sound with it and almost keeps it from travelling sideways a little too. when i walked to the bathrooms, the sound level almost completely dropped. I guess this isnt a good defense for being obnoxiously loud.

At the end of the day, most go up there to enjoy the wind and water. With the amount of sites on a fragile thin line with the city, we should just be grateful that we CAN still kite here at all.

I left the park around 1115 to 1130 on Saturday night for my trailer in the Marina and you could definately hear the music down there.

Could have been someone from Sherman Marina complaining?

Related or not, there is alot taken for granted when the parties happen.....pre-party preparation, post party clean up....sit a couple of hours behind the BBQ grill and that alone will make you understand....

So, despite knowing that Club Sherman was planned for next week, a group of girls decided to have a bachelorette party up there anyway. Now, as a result of the mayhem, noise, late night shit, problems and disrespect brought about during that party, Mina, the park host was super-pissed and there are no more parties to be had at Sherman.

NIce going guys.
Ollie, as the sig other of one of the chicks that planned and attended this party, I've got to say it was not despite knowing that Club Sherman was planned. These girls had been planning this party for 2 months or more. When your invitation came out last week, we were all psyched (especially those of us who were not allowed ;-) at this weekends party).

I think there has definitely been an infiltration of some freaky types. Don't blame the girls though. They didn't do anything we haven't done up there before.

On another note, is there a sign posted at Sherman with the regulations about noise, etc...? Are there ordinances that can be sited on the Sac county website?

I think we should just lay-low for a long while and next time do it right (by the books)
We'll obtain a permit, play by the rules (Minna's- WITHOUT QUESTION!), close at a reasonable hour, clean-up and win her respect back-...

Lets NOT fight back- (We fucked up, lets OWN IT)

Next time- the party with be RIPPER, and maybe even have a stripper...
But we'll shut down the any/all mayham and be RESPECTIFUL after midnight!

Nuff said-

Maybe it's because where I parked this weekend but that was the only party that didn't keep me awake past 3:00 AM and slept like a baby. Party two years ago had my RV thumping until 4:00 AM and got about 2 hour sleep.

Could also be cuz you have a new baby - that tends to improve one's ability to sleep in adverse conditions. :ugeek:

Well, it's normal that we all have varying opinions, and perhaps some of my disappointment is misdirected, but if there is destructive, inconsiderate and idiotic behavior by some - mounting stripper poles, driving quads on the grass, noise until late and unchecked behavior, and it seems all anyone else did was walk away or stand by and watch, if they weren't a part of it themselves, what do you expect? Mina got super-pissed about, probably still is pissed, and has said to several people in no uncertain terms, "NO MORE PARTIES". My rule would suggest "Behave as if you are in a nightclub". Seemingly theirs is, "Anything goes and fuck everyone else, let's party."

Unless it has permission and people can behave in a way other than complete asses, I prefer to not have anything to do with it.

I was there, the chicks had nothing to do with the pole. Some guys thought it would be cool to add to the party). Yes a few chicks used it that night since it was there but probably had no idea where it came from. The 4x4 belonged to one of the chicks husbands i think and for the most part was just idling around the parking lot. the issue was when someone else decided to take it into the trees. So unfortunately we are being punished for events that anyone at anytime could have done outside the party.

There are quite a few issues here:

1) kite safety/keeping launch clean.
2) keeping gangs out of the lot.
3) not allowing certain people to think they own the place just because they have an RV.
4) taking serious advantage of the efforts made by a few generous people. Specifically these have been Maui Mike, ollie and guacamole dj. These people ask for nothing in return but are now somehow treated like they are being paid.

So basically we chose our own path collectively as a group. we were not able to self govern ourselves and now a higher power has spoken. So be it. Let's man up to it and prove to ourselves we can be civil and responsible. Think of it as we are grounded by mom and dad. Let's keep our room clean and maybe we will get our allowances back.

Ollie, I can imagine how disappointed you are. For sure it's been a while since we've enjoyed a good Club Sherman. You know things have changed a lot at Sherman. I don't know that the Club Sherman we once new is even possible anymore.

I know you wanted to bring it back,,, bigger, better. Maybe what Mina is saying is... only one rager a year... So for next year, I'd be happy to help plan, build, etc... if you're up for doing it. I know how much energy it must take to commit to throwing such a big party and I know how disappointing it has got to be to then have that opportunity taken away. I feel you.

For the most part, you're talking about a mature group of well-behaved girls. Seemingly some may have gotten the wrong impression once word got out about a bachelorette party... maybe expecting a bunch of crazy 20-year old bimbos. Without even knowing the details I can say pretty confidently that the let-down of a few horny dudes when they found out that most of the girls were

a) married
b) not interested

contributed to some pretty aggressive and out of control behavior.

Take-aways... Bachelorette parties should not be advertised. Bachelorette (and bachelor) parties should happen in Vegas where one can be as freaky as they want to be in a land of freaky, freaky people.

All that being said, I really think the girls can't be held responsible as they just wanted to have a weekend kiting together, partying together and being girls.

Oh, and Yuri, that's no mini bus. That's the short bus.
