twin tip fin protection during travel - revisited

OK so i ended up making my own board protector from Styrofoam. Looks amateur, but i will let you know how it works out for my Cancun ThxGiving trip. see embedded construction video to encourage you to make your own.
Say "NO" TO TAKING OFF fins !

True. Ive gotten used to kiting every weekend. Now i dont know what to do with myself on saturdays :) with winds in the single digits... so i resort to this....

What about the handle and footstraps? or are those going to be covered in future threads?

Well done. I didn't realize there hot knives for cutting and shaping styrofoam until I saw this video. I found this link:

So lets see
You can spend what a couple of days cutting and gluing styrofoam then make and edit a flim then upload it to the web then post it on B.A.K
But you wont deal with your fin screws
Sounds like you got a loose screw

All that work to save taking out 8 screws? I just strip my board and then wrap it in that foam blanket they use to put under parquet wood tile floors. A roll of it is cheap at home depot and is infinitely reusable . BTW I would not trust styrofoam to protect anything in baggage to be handled by a ramper. You might get lucky, but more likely your bag will be thrown around like a rag doll like all the others. Also, keep in mind your bag may be under several hundred pounds or pressure from bags on top of it in the cargo if it gets loaded first.
