I just looked and I'm not seeing Alaska/Horizon flying to La Paz any more. Looks like it's only Aeromexico and United serving La Paz, with crazy long layovers flying down from SFO.
How are people getting to/from La Ventana this year? Is everyone flying through Cabo?

Re: Air Travel to La Ventana
Last time I went to La Ventana, I booked a Southwest flight to LA and separate flight from LA to La Paz, the flights were on few week days only.

Yeah, just got this info from Stewart who's down there now:
"Yeah. No more la paz flights. They (Alaska) fly to loreto now. So, I flew SFO to Cabo. Should be around $400-450 typical. Alaska or Virgin. Though this time I flew united for around $440. OAK to Cabo is around $500+ And no direct flights."

Re: Air Travel to La Ventana
there is also a direct cabo flight from San Jose on Alaska. Not sure what pricing is this time of year, but over thanksgiving it's crazy expensive. I save my $100 companion fare for that flight...

I'm heading down with friends March 21st for 7 days. Flying into Cabo. Any recommendations for rental car companies?

You want a direct flight right? United and Virgin I believe. Cabo is always cheaper and faster if you can fly direct with no layovers in random places IMHO.

Re: Air Travel to La Ventana
flying via cabo seems like the route to take from the bay area unless you don't mind layovers and plane changes.
virgin is the most kiter friendly. low extra baggage fees and generous weight limits.
on my retrun flight on united this year had to wait 2.5 hours in line to check in. on saturday afternoon ua has 6 flights leaving from cabo to various destinations and everyone is in the same line. they kept letting passengers on earlier flights cut in line to get them on their planes.

Re: Air Travel to La Ventana
I agree with Vic about baggage charges. United wanted hundreds of dollars for the surfboard round-trip and my friends on Virgin (the same day I flew) had a free (massive!) baggage-kit to SJD!
