John Garbe is one of the most nicest and mellow people I have ever met.

He was injured helping launch a kite at Sherman island by being impaled by a stick through his foot, that became infected and resulted in systemic adverse reactions with major complications from taking antibiotics.

He needs the kite communities help.

Thank You

Thanks everyone for the support. Please at least read my story and be aware of the dangers of certain antibiotics and nasty debris/hazards in the water at Sherman Island.

I'm sorry to hear about your story John. I hope that your condition improves with time. I have a friend that suffers from rheumatoid arthritis & shares many of the symptoms as you, he was recommended the book ‘The Anti-Inflammation Diet and Recipe Book” by Jessica Black. It basically suggests a vegan diet. My theory is that some people's bodies have trouble differentiating between native and foreign animal protein. By moving to a vegetable based diet, the body may be less confused and less likely to attack itself. I'd also suggest an organic diet. The Gerson diet promotes organic juicing to give the body all the nutrients it needs to heal itself.
I think your story also suggests the importance of protective footware while on/near the water. I am a big fan of wearing street shoes, like wake skate shoes.
My brother-in-law suffered a stroke and is permanently disabled. Both him and the friend mentioned above reside in Washington, which have excellent state funded programs for permanently disabled people. Neither of them could afford living with the health care programs offered in California.
Some people develop a sensitivity to radio frequency radiation. If you are up for it, you may try avoiding the use of cell phones, wifi, bluetooth, two-way radios, microwave ovens, & smart meters for a week and see if you notice any change in symptoms.
I wish you the best John.

Seems your foot infection was severe and needed the antibiotics - which had side effects.
Not downplaying the effects/impact it had on you, nor that drugs/medications have side effects, often not studied adequately.
Post market analysis is important to document the side effects of drugs and warn everyone. US has a good system, unlike many other countries.
