Risk of theft

Post by gmiller88 » Tue Apr 05, 2016 9:33 pm

I'm new to the area and had a question about theft. I was hoping to ride my motorcycle to the beach and leave my motorcycle gear (notably a leather jacket) in my kite bag while I'm out on the water. Is this a bad idea? Are there kite spots where it's a really bad idea and others where it's not so bad? Think I could get away with burying the kite bag in the sand?

I'd say "maybe" Waddell? But if I were you I would just add a box that you can lock in the back of the motorcycle and put everything in there.

Do you mean Waddell is more sketchy?

Pt emery, toll plaza , ocean beach, high theft rate.

Crissy, Dillon, OK

Sherman sketchy at times because of tweakers.

I would hook up with others with cars/vans to store stuff.

No, I meant this might be THE ONLY SPOT in the entire bay area where I would leave something out of the car. And still not sure if it would be a good idea...

Plenty of people leave bags out at Alameda and 3rd at the launch, usually as long as there is a fair number of people there you are good.
Listing gear is bad, and you should feel bad.

I leave my kitebag at the beach at waddell, crissy, OB, and leave it in the bushes at Sherman. Never had a problem although I don't keep any valuables in it.

Leaving an empty kitebag at the beach is one thing, he's talking about leaving motorcycle gear and a leather jacket. I doubt those would last long at OB.
