Just curious how El Nino has changed wind patterns across the bay area. From my perspective out in the east bay its been a later lighter spring. Would like to hear other thoughts.

Don't know about kiting, but winter was one of my best season for surfing in NorCal and Philippines.

I'd say it took a little longer for spring to kick in than usual (end of april instead of the end of march) and I've seen more west wind inside at third and coyote (something I usually see more toward the end of the season, not at the start).

But again, the coast guys are gonna tell you the season never stopped and they've been riding every single day since Christmas.

I haven't even kited 3rd yet this season, the coast as been too good. I think El Nino really helped the coast this year... the swell has been epic, water warm, and lots of wind. I'm excited for the my first TT sesh at 3rd, but I'm gonna miss the south swell!

On the coast, the water seemed warmer this winter. I ended up storing my 5/4 and pulling out my 4/3 and using that all winter. Now that spring is here, the water seems to have cooled and I am back to wearing a 5/4.

Seems like we had a lot of storms that generated huge waves, rode some of my biggest waves ever this winter. Normally use 7-9m kites at our spot, have had an equal number of 5m kite days. The latest session, I was overpowered on my 5m and ended up coming in.

Just looking at the forecast, no wind for the next week, which is unusual for this time of year.

The storms/swell this winter swept away a ton of sand (and the dunes have receded a lot) at OB, exposing a bunch of hazards (and buried infrastructure).
