converting a windsurfing harness

Post by andydavis » Wed May 25, 2016 11:45 am

I just switched to kiting last year, and I have a brand new windsurfing seat harness. Can I convert it to a kite harness. It seems like the only differences are a D ring for the leash and a pocket for a knife...are there any other differences? Seems like I can just sew on a D ring...

sadly there aren't many kite-specific harnesses as they all sort of evolved from windsurfing. your harness should be fine, there are probably a couple places to attach your leash. I actually attach my short leash to my hook. you can also find knives that come with pouches. enjoy!

I have used http://eezycut.proscubasites.com/produc ... trilobite/ on my scuba diving harnesses and now them installed on my kite harnesses. The knife that came with my harness died quickly.

Spreader bar needs to be stainless steel, the black aluminum windsurfing spreader bars are not strong enough.
