This is probably more an issue with windsurfers, whose ramp is often occupied. Dmitry told me that he has a special greeting for these folks to give him a way. This is again, not our issue, so windsurfers perspective would be also welcome. That is, not our issue until today.
First, driving along golf course I see a police cruiser and wonder what this is all about. Later, on a parking lot I witnessed a guy loosing his temper, and being really upset with "No fishing" signs put up by Tony. I tried to hint that perhaps conditions in the morning are better, but he was just unreceptive. Going back to pump my kite on upper green turf area, I suddenly hear a hit, and see a bait on the canopy. Apparently, the guy wanted to make a point that he can fish wherever he pleases! Again, I tried to explain the guy that damaging a costly piece of equipment is probably not the wise way to proceed. The conversation leaded to nowhere, but at least he gave up on his attempt to fish my kite. Finally, police cruiser arrives at the scene.
Yes, he is not the most pleasant person to deal with, but doesn't he have a point? For example at Waddel there is clear "no fishing" sign, and I guess at many many different places. The easiest way to upset people is to tell them to go somewhere else. If these signs are not endorsed by the city (that is illegal), shouldn't they let go?
P.S. Kiting at 3rd since 2003 I have never seen a dead fish. This season I have seen 2 on the beach. I wonder if this is a silent protest from other fisherman. The last thing we want hooks left "accidentally" on the turf area left unnoticed to damage our equipment. If there was no war with fishermen before, can we keep it this way?

unfortunately the reason for the dead fish may be worse than an angry fisherman: https://baynature.org/article/sharks-dy ... cisco-bay/

Re: A war with fishermen at 3rd
The only solution to tensions with the local anglers is to show that we are all on the same side. To this end, I propose requirements that all Kiters operating out of 3rd Avenue carry with them appropriate tackle including, at a minimum:
(1) a spool of monofiliment fishing line, 20 lsb test or above, of a length no less than 150 feet, intended to be operated either as a hand line or in combination with a fishing rod.*
(2) one fishing lure designed for trolling purposes and appropriate for attracting local species OR one weighted fish hook along with live bait intended for bottom fishing and appropriate for catching local species.
(3) An appropriate gaff or shank that can be used to fend off all local predator species and assist with carry fish back to shore.
*Kiters should practice the operation of this fishing equipment and be fully capable of fishing while kiting. Hand lines are highly recommended as rods have a tendency to get caught in one's lines.

I actually hit something with my board in the water near upper-lunch at 3rd ave on low tide couple of weeks ago. I thought it was a big fish. It left me really puzzled. Now I see what it might had been.BayAreaKite wrote:unfortunately the reason for the dead fish may be worse than an angry fisherman: https://baynature.org/article/sharks-dy ... cisco-bay/
