Hey Guys,
Traveling for work next week and may be able to have a free day or two... is it worth bringing my gear?
Looks like Kailua Beach is the place to go? Any thoughts or recommendations welcome.
Peter

Re: Kiting Oahu
I've visited Kailua about 1/2-dozen times to vacation with friends - it's a nice place to kite for sure! I used to bring a golf bag with a 9m+12m, but found that it was almost always 12m weather for a TT.
It's trade wind cycles (7-10 days of wind, 7-10 days of no wind), so it's a bit hit and miss. These days I now just like to ride a surfboard there. Kailua Beach Adventures has discounted surfboard rentals for 1 week, which you can swap out for a longboard at any point when the wind is down.
Have fun!

As I'm just sort of verbalizing from above .... bring a kite and a harness. If the wind picks up, you can go kite! Kailua beach adventures is walking distance to kite beach.

Hey Peter - did you go? I'm headed to Kailua beach this weekend. Been there twice before, good wind once and skunked the other time.

Re: Kiting Oahu
I did!
I got there on sunday (6/25) and went to Kailua first but there was no wind. So, I drove up to Mokuleia Beach and was able to get a light wind session there for about an hour (got really lucky with my timing). 14m + surf board there.
M-F was firing at all sites 15kts+ consistently. I was only able to get away from work on Friday afternoon and kited Kailua. It was really nice, switching between my 10 and 14, surf and twintip. I stopped around 6pm, but you could have kited until sunset.
Like some said before, it is either on for 7-10 days or off. I just got lucky that it was on. Really glad I brought my stuff! ($75 on the way there and $25 on the way back - flying virgin america)
Here are a few photos: (got to do some more product testing with the bar mount too! - shameless plug to follow me on instagram @TheBarMount)

Cool shots. Your right about the on and off. I'm here now and definitely off :-(. Still praying to the wind gods to give us some wind. Until then, lots of idle beach time :-OCali_Rider wrote:I did!
