Hey,
Looking to get myself a kite and board. Is there anything good on eBay?

Yes there is. We just parted with our 2005 Vegas 16 meter for $204, silly price if you ask me, but it was tiem to get rid of it!

You can find good deals there...

Or you can shop the classifieds Ikitesurf.com. One year old or less kite gear usually sells for about half what it costs new, and the selection is definitely better than Ebay. The only thing you won't find is the hottest new kites, but then, you won't get deals on them on Ebay, either (unless they're in pieces...)

I just picked up a 12m 06 Vegas off of ikitesurf for a killer price. Also a harness and a board. Best part about it is being able to talk to kiters around the country who always seem happy to chat and impart their wisdom to noobs like me. Wade

As with any internet transaction be very cynical and trust your instincts. You don't want to end up with someone's junk or get scammed.

Ebay is generally safer than ikitesurf, in which people can say whatever they want. I got junk form ikitesurf twice, but always had good success with ebay, both buying and selling. Ebay is more regulated and PayPal is almost the norm, you can see history and creditability of sellers and IMO worth the extra cost involved. I also find the descriptions of the condition on ebay more accurate. The risk is still there, but smaller.

If you want to be very safe buy locally from a swap meet or classifieds. You can see and touch the gear. That works very well too.

Just my experience, I am sure there are different opinions.

Yeah, my experience is pretty much the opposite. People sell kites on Ebay that noone would buy on Ikite. I've never had a problem with Ikite. They should add a feedback section, though, because it would help add confidence to the process.

So? You don't have to buy the junk. Buy the good stuff. On ebay junk is visible, on ikite it's a gamble if you don't buy localy.
