Froms the NWS:
Wednesday...Sunny and windy. Highs 69 to 79. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 30 mph in the afternoon.

This is as good a Tahoe forecast you'll ever see mid summer so if you've ever thought about kiting Tahoe, it looks like it's on for tomorrow.

Please don't pee in the water, ...we drink it.

What would be my likelyhood of kiting at tahoe Aug 1-6th? I'm staying in Auburn and know its about 1.3 hours to the lake. Where are the best kite areas on the lake?

Sounds like a small kite day for Tahoe! That's sick! I'd love to kite Tahoe some time. Where do you launch from?

I kited Donner Lake the day before the fires when the wind was really strong. I didn't even imagine that I would need a 9m so I only brought one kite - 13M. The Ssssion was fun kiting in the mountains but the gusts in the center of the lake were too much the kite. Also the launch was onshore with a few too many trees for my liking. I launched from the small beach on the south side of the lake in the state park.

I think next time I go back to Donner will be winter!!!@

J13, I'd come up and kite on your home surf tomorrow, but my 9's got a leak in the leading edge and in for repairs.

It's clouding up big time down here; very wierd for mid-July.

Kings Beach would have been my guess too. What about a wetsuit? Always needed huh? I didn't think the winds aren't consistent enough. What are the odds?

Thanx Maxwell, I will bring my gear and my wetsuit as I'm sure Tahoe is still cold! I think the probablilty of kiting is slim-- but I'll be there for days.
I'll bring my 12 and 16.

Well, I came and went. Tahoe was like a banana slug milkshake. Only kiteable on 12&skim or 16&board. The better kiting 4 me was at sugarpine res. south of colfax; dirtbike country. Didn't make it to folsom-but Sugarpine was sweet--a bit flukey but nevertheless kiteable. Winds out of the valley powered it. Tahoe was more or less waiting for the cool mountain winds to plummet to the lake.
