Coastal Kiting 101 -- this weekend

Time to get ready for fall. Not sayin' fall is coming early, but September is only two weeks away and it hasn't exactly been a long hot summer here.
If any one has been thinking they might want to try out kiting in the ocean this fall, this may be the weekend to give it a shot. Sherman has been weak the last few days and the forecast tomorrow is bleak. The Marin coast has been blowing the last few days and is forecast to hit tomorrow in the 20 mph range.
Dillon Beach has very small waves right now and is a pretty friendly place to kite. If the Ikite Tomales sensor is reading above 18, there will almost definitely be people there tomorrow, especially if Sherman craps out. I will probably be there tomorrow afternoon and am hoping to drag a few other SI regulars with me.
On the down side, if it's a nice day there will be lots of non-kiters there, so don't do anything kooky. It's a private beach, and they could easily ban kiting. Also, if you don't have a good warm wetsuit (4/3 or better) don't even bother getting in the water unless you never ever drop your kite. It's friggin' cold.
"Well the ocean breathes salty, want to carry it in, in my head, in my heart, in my soul..." (Modest Mouse.)
