I hope to see all of you at Pismo this year. Last year's event was outstanding, with a great turnout and 3 days of solid wind! The OR crew will likely head down early on Friday and ride ourselves and do some informal demos, so you if you want to beat the weekend crowds come and join us. We'll post Friday morning to confirm.

Post Pismo we plan on doing Bay area demos for the entire following week, including Crissy, 3rd, Alameda and wrapping up at Sherman on the weekend. Again, we'll post to this thread in the mornings to announce where we will be that day - stay tuned!

Please come out and try the kite and board that everyone raves about - the vented Rise and the Mako Wide. This board turns everything into butter. =D>

I definitely recommend checking out the Rise. I never thought I'd buy into the whole bow/hybrid thing, but these things changed my mind completely. This is the first kite I've ever ridden where I didn't really need time to feel comfortable. It was pretty immediate. Plus, getting rid of the 5th line is the best. It's fast, and especially with the 10, the lift is ridiculous.

After reading what I just wrote, I feel like I should be a writer for SkyMall magazine.

The OR crew will be at 3rd Avenue in San Mateo this Saturday. We'll have 08 Rise and Diablo kites available, along with Mako Surfs and Mako twins. Please come out and ride with us and try out our killer gear!

I love my Rises and I'd be interested to see how those Diablos fly. Ridiculously fast I'd bet. I don't think anything would get me off the Rise, it's been treating me so well.

Simple analogy - on an airplane you open the flaps when coming in for a landing. This permits the wing's angle of attack to be increased without stalling out, so the plane can fly more slowly without falling out of the sky.

With a kite, this is comparable to when it backflys, stalls, or tries to Hindenburg, especially in light wind, when you blow a trick, or the rider oversheets it. The vents allow the rider a greater margin of error, which benefits eveyone from beginners to experts (unhooked tricks, downwind " drift" in waves etc).

Testing the 07 Rise (with an 08 bridle to make all things equal) back to back with an 08 Vented Rise, we also noticed that the vents make the kite more efficient overall and extend the windrange, especially on the low end. Even with minimal power in the kite, the Rise will suck you up wind with ease.

Thanks evan i was just curious. I appreciate the offer, but I'm happy with my kites. Besides, yesterday reminded me why I don't ride crissy. Back to 3rd for me.

Ramsey, u would be suprised how good Crissy can be.
I'll be checking out 3rd on Saturday for the Ocean Rodeo DEMO, should be a great day out there with these OR guys and all their toys.
