Kiting with courtesy

Kiting for me over the past few years has shown me how respectful and helpful the whole kiting community can be. Whether it be giving some one a launch off the beach, or letting that new guy have the right away... but every once in a while i know that one kite falls out of the sky and accidentally knocks some one off their feet. Even though it was not on purpose usually the person flying the kite would run up to you ask you if you are alright... especially if the person that you hit pops up right away and does every thing that he can to wrestle your kite to the ground making sure that you don't end up in the near by road. So just a suggestion to our local Mystic Rep giving a lesson in the box at Alameda next time you or your student carelessly knock some one off their feet follow the Common Courtesy Rules of Kiting:

1. Ask the person in whom you hit if they are in fact OK
2. Thank them for not letting you get drug through the trees and in to the neighboring apartments.
3. Laugh about it and have a killer session

DO NOT
1. Ignore them as if nothing had just happened.
2. Ask them for a relaunch

Because next time it might be a little harder getting a landing when you come in.

Not meaning to Bash or cause any trouble, but being 17 year old raised by a Fire Fighter its pretty hard to not think about safety especially with such a dangerous sport as this.

My Best to the Tribe and let the streak of wind continue

I didn't see it, but I'm glad to know of your example, glad to know you're around.

Also in preventing an accident you protect the reputation of the sport, so in a general way you should consider yourself thanked, (but yeah I agree dude shudda thanked you personally).

Shepherds of courtesy-- rock on!

Glad you are okay Brennan. Good to know cooler heads prevail, especially now we are in full wind season. Alameda can get crazy crowded.

OR if you launch someones kite and the dill weed didn't hook in and didn't have the leash connected and you have to run up to him and hold him down and get him hooked in and hook up his safety (while kite in the air), and watch him get lofted walking down to the water then crash his kite into the sand!!

Not even an appoligy for lying to me because he said he could kite!

Where's the beer??????????

How many ands can you count in this post?

I wonder if the city of Alameda Parks and Rec already added sand on the beach on their annual reclamation gig over there. It would be nice if Parks and Rec buldoze the sand in front of the shack to flatten it up a little bit since the storm season is now over. Sometimes you can't see the kite if you are launching in the water.

Well, of course we can do that. But we need to be careful and not attract attention. Parks and Rec might not like it. We probably need to ask permission to flatten that area.

They were there last week, no one noticed because there was 0, zero, doughnut wind so no one looked that way....
