It started out ugly, with lots of swearing/screaming/threatening (police, dog harm, litigation, etc). I thought that there was going to be a fist fight in the parking lot FOR SURE.
But it ended up very peacefully.
Kiter A could have been badly injured. Kiter B, bless his heart, totally stepped up to be accountable personally and financially. Plus, he kept doing the right thing: saying, over and over, that he was sorry. =D>
Kiter A was fully jacked on adrenaline/fear/near kitemare buzz, and it takes a bit for the nervous system to quiet down when that happens to any of us.
THIS IS TOTALLY AVOIDABLE. :!:
I love dogs; I have 2 or 3 of 'em, and rescue dogs much of the year in Mexico. :-({|=
But: you do not see my dogs rolling through the park, ever. The last time I let my charming little Shar-Pei mix fetch tennis balls at the beach, she snapped at a kiter who almost dumped HIS kite. That was the last time, X years ago, she ran loose there.
People who think that they have "good" dogs are forgetting: dogs are animals. They pee, crap, dig, fight, forage WHEREVER they can. #-o
If you've ever let your dog loose at Sherman, and not picked up your dog's "leavings"/crap, you can be sure he/she has laid some fat cable somewhere. Where someone else has to pick it up or endure it. [-X
Many dogs, male and female, fixed and not, mark/pee on gear bags, kites, etc....which is GROSS and part of the reason many beaches in California have banned dogs completely. :-k
SO PLEASE.
It's not reasonable, responsible, or considerate to let your dog(s) roam freely at SI or anywhere public. It's also not okay to tie your dog up to the outside of your RV/vehicle with a long lead, where they can scare/bite an unsuspecting passer-by. Contain them.
When the parking lots are full and we are all in close quarters, make sure that they don't have enough lead to lunge at someone. If CAN happen, it probably WILL.
Respectfully,
GracieMarie :)
