I wanna enter an amateur kiteboarding freestyle competition but I can't find any around bay area. Does anyone know when and where the competitions are?? I heard that a few years ago there was an event named ''King of the Bay Area''. Is this competition taking place this year too???

I think there will be no K.O.T.B. event this year- :(
-BUT-
Closest thing to actual Comp's will be coming up soon at Sherman Island!
I believe there will be Course Racing and Freestyle comps over two days time ,
my hope to get my kiting toys entered in some way...
(Kicker and mini-rail)... But that junk will be stationed out at the 2ed Island and the event will happen in front of the beach.., so probably not. =D> =D> =D>

If you want to come play/practice with SEVERAL of the best free-style riders in the Bay.. Come hit the kicker- #-o 8-[ [-( (I'm going to try to put them in the water Sunday)

I suggest you contact Sandy at Kitopia for more information..
Also talk to her about a Kiteboarding for Women event in the near future- 8)

Anyway- Good Luck!

C'mon bro, let's keep the 2nd Island clean and free! Maybe try leeward side of 1st Island? Why block the way for 80% of the kiters when only 10-20% use the toys? I'm all for your efforts and those who enjoy them, but if you ask around, most people want it clear up there. For some it's the fav spot and best part of the day kiting there...

Agree with Ollie, let the Island be free ! Second island is a great place for skimming and boosting.

Oh shit...I prefer to be involved with things wwith firm plans...but how about we attempt a dress rehearsal event on Sunday the 27th of June on the last day of our demo....

Separate Judging for:

- Big Air - Mega Laughs
- Best Unhooked Stuff
- Best Surfboard Shredding
- Old School
- Kicker TIme

Judged by the crowd.

Sherman is a nice little spot...like it or not, more people are coming here. Lets develop slowly and controlled to make it even better.!

Bay Area needs a SOLID Event besides the World Class racing.

Anyone...Bueller, Bueller......?

Ollie- Thank you for bringing that up,
I was speaking with Jermery and Adam THIS WEEKEND about making a new path for the kicker/slider to avoid this problem.... Safety First!!!

As I see it:
Kiters can kite anywhere and everywhere in and around the toy's, THROUGHOUT THE BAY, but a slider/kicker spot is a VERY RARE thing indeed... and the truth is those extremely rare toys only consume a tiny fraction of OUR USABLE AREA.....

You can't knock it, tell you've tried it.
STEP UP your game!

I agree with LMG. Though I never hit the kicker the last two years it never ever ever got in my way. This can be done responsibly and make everyone happy.
