Maui Mike Here
For those of us who kited Sherman Island this weekend, you might have noticed a gentleman and his son milling around the launch area checking things out. Monday I saw them there again and decided I would shoot the breeze. They are orginally from Peru and now reside in Oakley. They expained that while they were out boating they could see our kites in the distance and decided that they wanted to see what was up and now wanted to get into our wonderfull sport.
This is the sad part.. They went to some store in the city and expained where they are from and what they were up too, at that time they were sold " The perfict kite for Sherman Island " a 2005 21 meter Fuel
what is up with that!!!! Im so glad that they didnt try to fly this kite Monday and injure themselves, needless to say I introduced them to Nate and recommended lesson. I can only hope that this dosnt turn them off to the sport that I love so much.
I rarely post, but I feel it is important that when selling used gear we realize our resonsibilty to peole who dont know much about our sport. Remember Karma can be a bitch..

Peace Out Mike

Oh man, I guess I'm in trouble now. #-o I just changed it yesterday too, nothing gets by you guys...

Well, here's the truth. He asked me nicely and has been an avid reader of the site for years, maybe not a prolific poster, but he goes back to 2-line kite days and considering all that he's selflessly done for the kite community with his famous feedings, I made an exception. Is it okay?

Brings up another topic though, we can assign other labels and ranks that aren't driven by post counts. So if you want a custom label, let me know.

It doesn't have to be all CAPS does it?

Forgot to comment on Mike's original post - I didn't even know there was a 21m Fuel ever, and that's just wrong...

It's who you know, not what you know. :)

plus Mike deserves more than old school, he deserves purple heart status for his constant emanation of positive energy.

Ollie, you can have a rating for whoever uses " I " the most.

or

How about every local donation gets a rank. Anything from cooking to doing some weeding.

dunno, maybe it's just best kept as is. I am sure there are better things to do with your time.

from what I've heard of Maui Mike, I support the upgrage. Got me thinkin maybe I should ask you to downgrade me back to "newbie" or whatever the first status is, just to keep me honest. :-"
