2010 LF Proof 151 or 2008 LF WLF 145 ?

Teaching my girlfriend and looking at two boards for her to learn and progress on. Used LF '08 145 WLF in good shape with upgraded Jimmy Lewis pads and straps. The other one is a brand new '10 LF 151 Proof. They are both the same price. Any opinions on which board would be best? (she's a big girl- 5'10")
Thanks

She's a complete beginner and will be kiting SF bay area and Oahu, Hawaii. Let's hear some ideas.
Thanks again

I think the 145 will be the better buy. It is more of a true light wind board, so it will fit better in the quiver as a second board once she progresses. But, with it's width, it will be a good platform for those first runs. It will be easier to fit in the car, or a travel bag, too.

The LF proof used to be sold without straps and pads--make sure you're not comparing board vs. board+straps&pads.

i'd say get the WLF. it's a better board. the proof is their super cheap beginner board. while it's important for beginners to have big boards, it's good for them not to be TOO big. a board that's too big is hard to edge properly (especially for girls) and then they can't go upwind.
WLF is a great board for learning...nice and wide so she won't need too big of a kite to get up and planing.

Save your money. I don't think it will matter once she reads this thread and finds out you called her a big girl. She is going to leave your ass in the sand.!
