This sundown at 7 thing really sucks.

Yep! SI was a good ride for us tonight (20 to 25+), you could pick your windspeed depending on what side of the river you wanted ride, but I'm finding that in gusty wind as this I'm too chicken to try something new. That sun did just fall out of the sky.

Dude, I don't know where you were kiting, but I was at SI from 5 until dark, and it wasn't the slightest bit gusty. It was one of the smoothest days I've had at Sherman in the last month.

There's always going to be variation depending on where in the river you are. And of course, it just kept getting windier as the day disappeared, but that's standard Sherman fare.

Now Berkeley yesterday, that was gusty. Gusty is when you can't stay on plane because your kite is alterately OPed and falling out of the sky. Sherman tonight was pure, pure bliss.

BTW,
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the current Ikite forecast is too conservative about wind for SI.

It may be foggy down there at SI tonight, but it's still 70 degrees at my house at 10 pm. The "big cool down" is not going to happen tomorrow, anyway, and the NWS Sacto is saying that daytime temperatures are not going to change very much until Sunday. Specifically, that the cooling affects are not going to reach much beyond the Delta. When the rest of the valley stays hot and the Bay is cool/foggy, the wind at Sherman is always perfect smooth 12M.

Get some.
