When the last parking space has been taken by a school/rep/team/trustafarian/retired folks and their RV/boat trailer/jetski rig, will someone please lock the gate...

BTW, Sherman Island is on a list of areas to be permanently flooded and turned into wetlands under a plan by the quasi-governmental Delta Commission. I saw the map at a meeting with county officials two weeks ago. They want to knock the levee down and let the river in.

Paul,

I certainly hope what you say will not be done. I have a couple friends with houses on Sherman Island. They will also have to destroy the Antioch Bridge and re-route the traffic that takes 160. This sounds a little far fetched to me.

Last I saw, the back parking lot is W I D E open and much more suitable for a rig of your size.

Furthermore, for the record, there is a 10 day camping limit at SI.

I had heard a while back that Shermin Island was going to be converted to marsh land. Doing a quick search on the net turned up a doc that describes the plan (http://www.dfg.ca.gov/lands/mgmtplans/lsiwa/).
Not reading it all (12 megs!) it appears only the lower part of Sherman Island will be effected which is everything upwind (West) of Sherman Lake, so it shouldn't effect the main launch site or the houses there off the levy road.
