Greg, realistically, where do we wear these badges? I aint sewing it to my wetsuit. It's a great idea but if noone wears it, its not worth spilling the dough. I guess the question is where? If on a wetsuit maybe there is a good glue to use? Maybe just paint a yellow dot on the back of the wetsuit. Also, lets take a scenario...
someone needs cpr down by the shoreline and there is someone sitting on the bench wearing a patch on their arm. If that person is there to help they will most likely asd soon as they know about it, but will other people think or know to look for a patch in that time of need? I suppose you could have a meeting at the beginning of the season letting people know that this is what the badge means.

Windhorny,
THe patches would/could be attached/adhired to your harness/vest/jacket etc.. THe idea is to have others recognize your achivement and hopefully want to take the course also. Also the patch will be a sign of who to talk to or who to allow better access to the injuried party in the event of an accident, like a quick responce triage person.
Basicly the cost of the patches would be my little gift to all who attend as a thank you for being there for us.

ok, then I think in order to get this patch you need to prove you can fly a kite also. This way we can really get nasty when we know someone has no idea what they are doing but dont want to say anything.L.M.G. wrote:Windhorny,

negitivity is really getting me down.
I do understand teasing etc.. I've been dishing it out as well as recieving it ALL my life.
My gal taught me a good rule of thumb to gauge a tease/joke: If all party's involved wont be laughing when its over it ISNT NOT REALLY FUNNY!
THe captain of the last boat I was on reminded of another old saying, you get to choose your friends- not your family.
I consider All kiters my family, anything more then that is up to them and me. I ask you to consider how few people you will have this kind of bond with and remember hurting (even by mistake) ANY member of my family, I find replusive.
Lets act like friends,

Greg, there is no doubt you ARE family. No attitude, just questions. I personally think you have made more effort to contribute to this sport than any single one person I know. Even though you are sometimes forced to play the "voice" for us and would rather be kiting, you still always come through when the community needs you-no joke. If anyone should be wearing a patch, it's you. And it should be lined in gold- or some other non-corrosive material :)
