New Fins

So i have a 2006 Litewave Stealth board with the stock fins that i pretty much completely stripped out during my last session. The fins started to strip early on just from removal and instalation for traveling. While kiting on saturday my board leash completely yanked the screw out of one of my fins resulting in a lost screw. I went in and swapted one of my toeside fins in place of my heelside just to finish the day and by the end of the ride it too was lose and wobbling around.

I think the problem is that the fins had wooden cores that just stripped too easily after not much use. Do any companies make fins with screw holes that are more durable than just wood? I'll probably try to use some of that wood epoxy stuff to fill in the holes and rescue them for the time being but i figure it is time for a fin upgrade. Any suggestions for good quality fins?

Most fins are made from solid G-10.

Any fin that does not screw through. You need a setup like Future or FCS, however I recommend Future for strength. Screwing through the deck into the fin is ridiculous. Only the cheapest of surf board brands do it and I guess now a couple kite brands are doing it as well...

He is talking about twin tip board not surf board.

Maybe ask Yuri if he can help you design your own fins. He posted a very reasonable offer if you want to design your own fins, not sure if he is still doing it. The only thing is you probably have to drive to Alameda and do some work there.

I can defintaley help making fins. Either i can whip you out a set or if you want to make your own, let's talk. obviously this involves making a master and a mold.

If you do decide have Yuri just make a standard set for you, I can pick them up for you over the weekend. You can just pick them up in one of our offices in Scotts Valley.

Are you sure the fins have wood core? I have a few litewave fins and also had a board, I don’t remember ever seeing a wood core fin (not litewave and not other brands).
