What Yuri said. Y'all have a good thing going at Alameda, don't mess it up. The only thing that should cross residents and city officials minds is, "wow, those kiters sure look like they're having fun."
Doesn't hurt to mention that we spend money in Alameda--I buy beer and gas there every chance I get--way cheaper than SF.

Hello Yuri,
Again and Again!!!! That is why we love you... as you know how to keep the STOKE!!!!
Most people don't know what it's like to try to make a living by owing at least % 15 or more to the County of Alameda and personal liability insurance. It is almost impossable and is a labor of love for the sport. Please!!!!!... don't be mean to Rebecca and Jayne.. trust me on this one, they are on your side, and there is no ferrari in there garage.

Let Jane do what she does. If you need to teach someone, you really should go to a school anyways. Those of us who are qualified to teach that are not affiliated with a school, just don't do it where Jane can see you.
If you the student are being frugal and decide to have an unqualified person teach you, it could be your life or someone else's. Extreme, but knowledge is priceless when you plan on playing for 4+ hours in an environment we were not designed to breath in with a huge kite attached to you.
Most important is that we are ALL on the same side at the end of the day. That means, if you go calling the city and attourneys about small issues like this, it could ultimately equate to ,yet another, negative mark for us. We need those marks for all the yellow cabrinha pilots as is, so lets not spend them for nothing.
All I'm doing is what Jane said to do: Call the attorney so I know the rules and why-
Personally I'm only interested in knowing what the law is, not breaking it.

Hello GregB,
The EBRP Attorney team told Pam in court did she have $50,000 because that is how much she would owe if she said one more word.. that was in 1987; can you imagine how high that figure would be these days. The litigation for the case was 6 inches thick and was bound in three different booklets when published by four EBRP Attorneys we were cleared of any charges by signing a pre-designed document.

I recall your wife trying to explain that to everyone at the meeting...
My only question is this: Is it ILLEGAL to teach your friend for free at Alameda?
Remember this Max- I'm not doing business, and I'm NOT trying to discourage business, neither am I promoting any business, my soul purpose is to know what I can and cannot do within the park in relation to assisting others (ie. teaching) of my own free will and without charge.
My only goal is to keep Newbie kiters off the rocks, (which is there only option unless they are in a lesson or have a friend with a boat.)

Hello GregB,
The liability insurance premium quarterly deposit to create and implement the necessary protection both bodily and property coverage necessary to protect the instructor and student is so large that only a instutition such as EBRP can and may only be funded by home owner property tax dept ratio portion funded by Alameda County.

Max-
Your windsurfing shop was back in the 1980's, was it not? I believe the laws have changed a bit concerning personally liability since then.
To me it seems possable there may a been LONG misunderstanding going on here.
