I can confirm, Alameda was a no go today. Berkeley the same. Waddell looked good all day of course. Bit of a stretch for me for a lunch break though so I just put in some time at work. Gotta save up the emergency "leave early days" for spring time.

Folsom was EPIC yesterday. Somewhat gusty, but manageable and if you timed it right it allowed for huge airs. I got some of my biggest jumps ever. We were lit on 7 & 8m kites. There were also some nicely defined waist+ high waves that allowed for some great surfing if you really worked it. I had some great sessions on my surfboard. We kited for several hours until sunset... F'ing Awesome!!! =D>

OK, here's my noob question on this subject. I was working yesterday and watching iKitesurf.com readings and the 3rd Ave webcams and from where I was, it looked like it should have been a good day out for around mid-day to sundown. The windsock appeared to be blowing in a reasonable good direction, wind speed looked good on the readings, the water looked to be rather choppy but other than that, can someone explain why it fell off around 1:30? I'm mostly looking to be able to better guage things from afar so I can have better luck with early afternoon bail-and-drive decisions.

Thanks in advance

From my noob understanding, this was not a thermal wind (the kind you get in a regular season, forming every afternoon), but it was caused by a high pressure system moving in to the north of here. So the wind just dies whenever this front moved in, which can be at any time of the day.

I think yesterday could have been ride-able even in the afternoon with a big kite (13m or more), but most people (me included) only had 8-9m so it didn't work.

OK, that makes sense, does this mean that the sensors were reading high then? The channel was reading 18 through the afternoon and the shore senser dipped down to 13 which seems like it should work fine or is that low for 8-9m? I saw the coastal meters were quite off yesterday so I'm wondering if it was systemic oe not.

Thanks

You want low 20s in the channel and mid teens inland for a 12 to work so even higher for smaller size.
