Thanks for posting this pic.

I am the dead bird with the black, orange, yellow kite who swam for 20-30 minutes.
Once back I counted the guys who took refuge in the channel and arrived at 12. With the 8 you seen on the picture, that's 20!

One of the frequent 3rdave rider even finished with all his lines wrapped/tabgled around his ankle.

Great exercise! but not to be repeated too often...

Crissy was gusty and nuking Wednesday and I was on a 12M.
Somebody jumped off the bridge around the time I was kiting. I did not see it but there were lots of emergency vehicles in the distance.

Its not late summer, its early autumn.

Had this happen to me last year in September. I told my hot date back then to look for an orange kite in the 3rd Ave webcam. Lot of explaining followed.

Would it break your fall enough to live if you landed on a kite horizontal? Assuming kite was really powered?

Crazy question...

This is something I have been curious about. I have not been out at Crissy, yet, but I know people kite right under the bridge and I am aware of the volume of jumpers. Are you guys worried that a jumper could land on you or your kite? Even just seeing someone jump of the bridge would kind of ruin the session for me, i think. Is this something that is considered?

The statistical probability of a jumper landing on a kite is very, very, low. Close to zero. While anything can happen, consider that on average there is only one jumper per month. Also, at any given time of day, how many kites are actually going under the Bridge? If I were kiting at Crissy, I would worry more about boats, lack of wind, currents, equipment failure, sharks, and helicopters (see posting about marine helicopter vs kite) before I'd worry about being hit by a person jumping off the bridge.
