It sounds like the Coast Guard had reports of a kite and two boards. They launched search and rescue but did not locate the gear or any sailors in the water, so no gear has been recovered as of now. I have contact info for the female kiter that lost the kite and that info will be forwarded to USCG in case they turn up the kite. If anyone lost a board, let me know at thorner@sfba.org and I'll pass it along.

There is almost always some confusion because multiple people may call in the same kite or two different kites and they can't always get enough info to be absolutely sure. In addition, you get people driving on the San Mateo bridge who will call in that they saw a kite crash... but they didn't notice that the person got right up and sailed away.

Thanks for the update, I was kiting at 3rd on Tuesday and at around 6pm I went over to a kiter that was body dragging trying to find his board, he had a black/grey/white slingshot kite and wore a grey? helmet. He was located in between the upper and lower launches, I searched for his board for over 15 minutes but couldn't find it. He said it was a red board. Maybe that's one of the boards the CG reported?

Thanks,

May
