Hey guys,
Recently moved to the bay, and find myself in the market for a new wetsuit as my trusty 3/2 will be too cold.
Are you guys riding in 5/3 or 4/3s??
Thanks

everyone seems to have their own take on this but here's mine:
south or east of SF its 4/3 in the winter, 3/2 in the spring and fall, and board-shorts or shorty all summer.
SF and coast i'm wearing a 4/3 in winter and 3/2 in summer.

I'm riding a 4/3 full in the bay during winter.
usually use a 4/3 shorty at 3rd ave during the hot days of summer.
And I wear booties and a 2mm shirt under my 4/3 full when I get to the ocean (makes it a 6/3 and I don't have to buy a whole new wetsuit just for the ocean or crissy)
I recommend gloves for winter storm riding under the rain.
I never wear a hoodie but a lot of people do at the coast.

I got a Mystic 5/3 and dont seem to feel over heated in it. It is a good overlap with my 3/2 shorty.

4/3 but with hood so I don't have to get my ears drilled (again). Good for coast all year.
Some prefer 5/3 but personally I think the suits are so much better these days that you're good with 4/3, especially if you wear a hood. Course for me the blubber might factor a little too.
Wear that in the bay in the winter, then 3/2 in most of the bay in the spring, then 2m shorty or no wetsuit for Sherman through the summer.

*i often overheat in my 5/3* even in the bay during winter.
I may go for a shorty this summer, but last summer i did a lot of trunks & t-shirt in the bay. I spent all summer without a shirt at sherman and would often dunk/rest out on the water to cool off. Wetsuit in coast just because its like 10deg colder. Booties in the winter (coast only and those places that'll tear up your feet)

I wear a 5/3 most of the time and dont overheat, but you can always just take a dunk and flush cool water down your neck. If its really nice out then I wear a shorty. only a few times do I go only in shorts. But I'm skinny and dont have a lot of natural insulation. Like today I was fine in the water, but got cold on land from wind chill wrapping up my gear, but the sun was also going down.
