Hey guys. I'm in the Bay Area for a couple of weeks, brought my kite and gear. Very nice to see strong winds, but I'm struggling with finding good launch spots. Yesterday and today it is blowing very nicely westerlies. I kited at 3rd Ave a few times but on the W direction it looks all offshore so I don't want to risk it.
I thought of Toll Plaza launch spot but it doesn't seem to be getting enough wind, shows low teens in iKitesurf.
Crissy and Berkley Marina seem to be getting lots of wind but everything I read online says don't go there.
Where would you suggest I go on days like these?

Thanks for the reply. What are good options on the coast?
Waddell seems to be getting a lot of wind. Is there anything closer to Santa Cruz?
Or San Francisco?

Shuttles available upwind from Pittsburg and Sherman all summer. Come see what kiting west has to offer.

Race Track looks awesome on Google maps. I'll give it a shot today.

Berkeley has been great this week. Launch isn't actually from the Berk marina per se, but from a little spit called point emery. It's at the base of ashby avenue. Racetrack is a good alternative, check the toll plaza and point Isabel meters to see whether point emery or racetrack is better.

Yup. What people say. The whole east bay. Berkeley, racetrack and marina bay.
If treasure island, blunt point and Berkeley marina sensors are all reading above 20 then pack your stuff and go!
Something to keep in mind though: all 3 spots can be a bit light inside!

Pt Emery...Ashby beach, whatever you want to call is tough if high tide (+4). I was there on Thursday last week on 5+' but got there just in time to launch but had to put the kite in the water and reel it in with the bridle line to get out...was blowing 30 at 7PM! Where were all of you guys???
