22 seconds of hang time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by KillaHz » Sat Jul 28, 2007 10:31 pm

Jessie Richman floated a 22 second hang time today launching from the water...um, it was huge! World record ten feet off the beach at Crissy Field. I think that one will stand for a while...congratulations Jessie...you're my hero!

In competition or ever?

Post by average_male » Sun Jul 29, 2007 1:32 am

Yea, I saw that. It was sweet. However, I am sure that is not the record. I am referring to the Eric Eck (Top Hat) footage, 39 second of hang time. Or are we strictly talking about in competition?

I'd like to see how Jessie's helicopter kite-looping looked on video. Steve Gunn indicated that someone got it on video. Perhaps he'll post it soon.

Anybody get that 22 seconds on video? I mean i figured there would already be 20 angles of it on YouTube with different sound tracks.. lol.
I missed it cuz i was out playing under the golden gate.

I counted seven overhead kite-loops. The only time I've seen anything like it is in the snow-kite vids where the rider is looping and dropping hundreds of feet in elevation. Nice hang time, fun to watch indeed. Yes, most of it is on video I heard, which is where the time estimates came from. World record? Dunno...

The whole 22 seconds is on video. We got to watch 17 seconds of it last night from a competitor who got it on film.

Jessie also stuck that jump clean. The EE video is an accident where he was lofted off the beach...don't think it was ever considered for a record. And I don't think he was in the air for 22 secs...maybe when watched in slow motion.

I'm pretty sure the guys will have the video on their website www.richmanbrothers.com. Check it out and see.

BTW Big D, you owe me $10. I watched the video later that evening and he did NOT bring that kite 360 degrees around. He goes about 340 degrees and then turns the kite back the other direction. Saw "The Flying Tahitian" do it on Sunday morning from over 100 feet in the air (with jetski assist to get that high). No worries though, I know where to find you on the beach ;)

Video does not lie. (But I haven't seen it, so I guess we'll just have to wait on that big payday! You coulda' had the C-note!) Not that you're makin' it up or anything...

Here's the "partial video". LG, looks like plenty 'o complete kiteloops to me, although he does reverse direction for the final two. Agreed?

It was an even $100, right?

He actually "bounced" after the 2nd-to-last loop, like a skipping stone.
