I need a new twintip that I'm looking to use primarily at Sherman. I've got a surfboard for the waves. I'm 170 pounds, and want some pop but also value peformance in water that isn't perfectly flat (like behind the island at Sherman).
I can't find demo's of either of these boards anywhere, so if you've ridden both or just one I'd appreciate your thoughts on which you'd recommend as well as sizing on the Jaime Pro.

I realize that neither of these boards are the ones you are inquiring about, but I rode a lot new 08 twintips before deciding on one. I personally like a lot of flex in my board and settled on the Naish Haze 133. Got a screaming deal on a complete board setup from emerald coast kiteboarding in FL. I've ordered stuff from them a few times and they have always been great, the shop owner Wayne is really receptive and great to speak with.
The Haze is like a noodle when you first pick it up you wonder how in the hell it is going to ride. But I've been loving it and every time i get on another board I want my haze back.
The other board I really liked second to the Haze was the north x-ride. Again, quite a bit of flex and absorbs chop well.
You might take what I say with a grain of salt as before my Haze i was riding a 2005 140 cabrinha lab rate with non-adjustable foot straps and 4 mismatched fins...

I feel like I've seen a lot of North boards up at Sherman (must be all the team riders :-) ). . . i'd say your best bet is to find someone who rides one of the boards and ask to borrow it for a few minutes on the water. if you can make friends with someone who rides each board, you will probably have your answer really quick. I find it doesn't take more than 5 min to decide if I like a board or not, and trying them in the exact same conditions is the way to do it.
from my understanding, the jamie is a bit softer and less hard core new school. seems like it might be a better fit if you want comfort in chop.

different boards
The boards are a bit different
Jaime: a bit softer, has narrower stance options, a bit narrower
Ceasar:stiff between footstraps, has very wide stance options, a bit wider then Jaime.
You gotta ride them. I ride the Sky pro: super wide and stiff, but I'm also quite a bit heavier them you. You are welcome to borrow my board any time you see me @ Sherman.
Kite Wind and Surf carries North, I'm sure they can hook you up with a demo. PLEASE buy locally, support your local shops!!!
Get some, Z.

Z - thanks for the tip and the offer. The Sky is a little too big for my tastes.
Kitewindsurf isn't able to demo either of these boards. I offered to put the full $700 MSRP down if they could let me demo both of these boards and I would buy whichever board I liked better, but no dice... Said that North doesn't provide demo's outside of the Demo Day they had for those three days back in June, and they don't have any that are available.

king kong, I just got a 2008 Jaime L from North. I had a sky pro before but I found the Sky less than ideal in the chop but still wanted a freestyle board. The Jaime pro is one of the best boards i've ridden when powered but at 200 lbs I find myself having to work a little to hard when the wind lightens up to make up the ground ive lost. As much as I like the Jaime I might go back to the sky since it worked well at my weight and I can deal with the rough ride in the chop to reap the upwind benefits. If you want to try the Jaime out at 3rd sometime i'd be happy to let you jump on, it is only 2 weeks old so basically new. I might be willing to sell it if you thought it was was what you were looking for, PM me if you are interested.

That is so lame, I love north and think they make awesome shit but this is the kind of thing that will make me go with another brand. I already did that earlier this season when I opted for another kite brand that has demos all the time, only to switch back to North later.Z - thanks for the tip and the offer. The Sky is a little too big for my tastes.

Isn't this what all the North team riders are for is to let you demo their stuff?super_monkey wrote:That is so lame, I love north and think they make awesome shit but this is the kind of thing that will make me go with another brand. Yuri,
Will you make a board for kids? Like in the 120 range?
