just a little note about the award ceremony for the stfyc/cabrinha race series.
Even though there are not a lot of women/girls who are racing with us, it would be great to recognize them. I'm sure this is an unfortunate oversight and I can picture John and Steve biting their lips right now !. But Sandy , Ella , and maybe some others that I don't remember need to be thanked and encouraged to keep the good work if we want to attract more "jolie filles" to join us in our bi-weekly dragracing.
Come on guys, if I can get a reward for being the 3rd fifty and over from a small bunch of oldtimers ( even though I'm the grandmaster worldchamp) , I believe the ladies deserve a lot more recognition that I do.
I suppose, the rules must stipulate that there needs to be a minimum of racers to define a division, which would explain why there is no official award for women or juniors, but I'm sure we can still find some kind of prizes for our beautiful racemates.
Just a little glitch in an otherwise great season, great evening, and great group of dedicated people.
(sorry Ella, I did'nt get a "two small for me" jacket this year that you could have inherited like last year, just a too large for you cabrinha rashguard, and I'll keep my cabrinha beany since your dad stole mine from last yea'rs nationals !)
Go Girls !
Allez les Filles !
A poil !

Frank..we agree. During the season signups that went until the third race of the season, we said we would create a class for women as well as juniors..you forgot the juniors like Alex an Blake (sorry, I saw you mentioned later in your post)....we established 5 entries to establish a class (to be scored for the season), but unfortunately did not get 5 women or 5 juniors :-( ...hopefully next year. So, didn't even come close to biting my lip. However, I understand the underlying intent of your post, and we probably should have recognized the women and juniors who participated..it would have only taken a moment to encourage them to join us again next year and to recruit some friends...I was in a hurray and really needed to get out of there...Chip joked, but it really was my anniversary 10/23/1971

My girlfriend and I had the same conversation leaving the yacht club. The girls need to be recognized!! I've been in some heated races with a few of them over the season and even got beat a few times. Go girls. Lets get more of them out there.

Re: don't forget the women !
Yes, huge kudos to the women for sticking to it with all the men. They get all the same joy and anxst as us. Ella getting into huge kite tangles caused by.... Sandy beating out many of the men in the series, the occasional showing of others in the series. "If there was more recognition there would be more women", almost a direct quote from racers. All just a point that they are out there competing and having fun with the rest of us, so they should get some recognition as well.
And congrats to Steve for making it to Anniversary 38!

Re: don't forget the women !
that"s right Steve
I understand now that if you want to reach your 39 or 40th anniversary and beyond, you don't want to be seen "congratulating" the ladies too close !
I'm 18 years behind you and I hope to follow your tracks on the water as weel as on the marriage front. And we all know, it's not that easy !!!
All right , time to go to my weekly counceling session ... before hitting the coast.
tomorrow, clearing wind forecasted, OB anyone ?

Thank You so much for the recognition Frank, I was wondering why no one said anything at the ceremony, especially towards Sandy. We will keep competing no matter how litte/many the girls are in order to help the girl kite community grow.
