I'm sure there is a post on here for off season kiting and I looked, but couldn't find one.
I'm taking some time off after Christmas and wanting to go kiting for a week or so. Anywhere close to go kiting? i.e. Anything under 2 hours via plane?
Thanks

Nick go to LA Ventana or L.A. OR come snowkiting in tahoe with me. Btw did you ride alameda today? the winds were light but about 15 riders got out!

Ya I've been thinking about going snowkiting, but also have a pass to heavenly for old-fashioned snowboarding.
I found La Ventana. What's the closest airport? La Paz? Any good/cheap places to stay there?

Re: Off Season Kite locations
Cheapest indoor option is likely a bunkhouse at Baja Joe's, at $40/night. That drops to $25 each if you find someone to split it with. I stayed there last year and liked it, was right on the launch scene and had kind of a hostel vibe. Next cheapest option I know of is camping at $10-$18 a day. If you go, figure on $75-90 for a ride from the La Paz airport to LV, but you can usually find someone with a car to give you a ride back. Or if you're doing a short trip it may be worth it to rent a car (just make sure you have your insurance sorted out).
Stop off at Sorianas (huge food/dept store) on the way from the airport for food (if you're going to use the kitchen where you're staying), tequila, and wine--the only stuff you can reliably get in LV is beer and really fresh fish. Also, grab a roll of duct tape--among other uses wrapping up my feet saved me a day's kiting after I put my feet down on some spiky rocks (LV is mostly sand, but there are a few spots to avoid).
The kiteboarder mag did a writeup on LV recently: http://www.thekiteboarder.com/wordpress ... a-ventana/
