The ONLY donation so far from the kiteboarding community was from Eric Stroeve and he felt bad he couldn't sent more.
All I have to say is this... few month ago, when there was that fatality in Florida (the shark attack)... I thought...wow that sucks... but it was just a headline to me. Too distant.
I know today, I feel VERY differently about it.
$20.00 is what most us spent on gas to get to the beach ... not to mention most of us have quivers worth several thousands of dollars....
Please help out @ http://scottmurray.bayareakiteboarding.com/?page_id=21

Re: Scott Murray Memorial Fundraiser
I have got my donation in. Again, it's one of the least things we can do for Scott to honor him, his family and friends.
Please, I know many of you are still on Facebook, I am not any longer, but if some of you guys could repost this info on Facebook to get the word out to our kiting community here in the SF Bay Area and beyond, it would be much appreciated I'm sure.
Scott is still in my mind and hopefully with others as well, so let's do a little more than just talk about it and make a contribution.
Scott obviously was an awesome guy, lived an adventurous life in many ways and will be so missed by all his family and friends. His accident and passing was tragic, it happened doing something he loved and it happened here amongst us in our kiting community.
Let's help, anything is fine I'm sure, and if only a small amount, shows that we, as kiting individuals here in the SF Bay Area, and beyond, do care.
Sincerely,
Ollie

LET'S DO THIS BAYAREA
We spend thousands on gear, we spend more travelling and looking for adventure. Heck, we even spend hundreds of dollars on ikitesurf and we know it is windy here all summer. So, PONY UP.
Scott came here with his friends from out of town to enjoy our beaches. Tragedy struck. Let's show his family and friends how the Bay Area kiteboarding community cares.
Scott has my beer money this weekend. What about you?

Re: Scott Murray Memorial Fundraiser
As we are getting the planning for a SMMF Party, BBQ, Raffle and Fundraiser on the fast track, while cash donations to the Memorial Fund are helpful, if that is not an option, you can also help if you'd like to donate any gear for the raffle. Boards in good shape or kites not too old and in good shape are welcome as well as whatever else you think would be worthwhile to include in the raffle.
But Milton's comment on the amount of views/posts on this topic compared to those which are somewhat trivial and with little significance is somewhat sobering.

- and then it ends with eye roll... (projecting GUILT and SHAME)
Scott died doing something he LOVED- would he want me to feel bad for doing the same?

Nothings directed toward any individual, just on Miltons statement on what draws views or interest. Not implying guilt or shame either, so no need to feel that for anyone. The icon is more an indication of a social observation, nothing more!
The good news is that we are planning a great party to benefit Scott and honor him by doing what he loved to do - have fun!
BBQ, party, music, raffle and more and we should be able to get some great local support so let's look forward to that!

It's not that at all Greg. Your stoke and love for life is what motivates people to organize and care. This whole accident has been tough on many people. Please don't take my aggresive postion in the wrong way. No bad vibes. Let's just help Scott and family.
