well, there are a number of sand bars. one about say, 200 yards from shore and another quite a bit further out. I'm no good at estimating distances, but if you go on a negative tide, you'll see both sandbars. inbetween the sandbars, the water is probably 4 feet at most. at least, that's how it was yesterday....

A-rod: Thanks for your posts on 3rd Ave. Most of the posters on this site tend to represent the E. Bay and Sherman. I've never kited at 3rd (far) but it's interesting to here about the conditions. If you guys keep getting the best wind, I might have to make the trip.
