Kiteboard kite dilemma

Post by downhiller » Wed Sep 19, 2007 4:59 pm

Hi,
Alright I have a big dilemma. So I got a deal to buy a 2007, liquid force assault 2 for $500 that has been used less than 5 times. I live right next to Richardsonís bay, in Marin. I know the kite-boarding season is starting to end, but I know I probably have another few months. For me, there is no one around here that said that they wanted to kite with me, so I would be in Richardsonís bay all by myself. Once I got good at going upwind then I could go to larkspur and kite there. I am interested in many things and I donít have that much money. I donít know if buying a kite is worth it because I wonít be able to use it that much. But with kite boarding I could only use it 3-4 times a month, and without someone to kite with, that doesnít help out the situation. So basically I am asking, do you think that I should wait till the new season starts and then get a kite then? Would there be better deals on 2007 kites then? What do you think that I should do?
Thanks.
Zander.

By yourself.
Richardson Bay.
End of the season.

All say don't do it.
And the post above says you do have frieds that will ride with you next year.

Get a trainer kite. Fly it all winter. Once you get go with the trainer jump on a skateboard. Come Spring you will be ready.

Also there will always be deals on kites.

If I where you I would go over to Live2Kite and see if they have some things you can do over the winter on the weekends to earn a kite.

How old do you have to be to work at live 2 kite?

I'll bet Evan doesn't get much of a chance to mow his lawn (the grass, I mean) ... I know I don't.

Richardson's Bay

Hey Zander,
I live in Sausalito weekdays and have kited R. Bay since 1998, but not since the float plane incident with a friend of mine, a few years back.
The heliport and sea plane people called every enforcement organization in existance and they all came, Sausalito police, sheriff, CHP, FAA, and harbormaster.
My friend was given a warning with a promise of heavy fines if he kited there again. So if money is a concern of yours, if your life is important, forget R. Bay. There are other places to launch in R. Bay, but none really for a beginner, and then once you know what you're doing, you'll go elsewhere.
