I googled chinese kiteboarding kites and chinese wholesaler kiteboarding sites came up. They have bow kites for under $200, the catch is that you have to buy 50 of them.
Someone has to be importing these kites into the States, but I have not seen them advertised anywhere. One company is called "Mr. Kite".
I would imagine that these are knock-offs of the major brands. Does anyone know where you can purchase these kites?

SAVE GENERAL MOTORS!
Seriously, all the kites are made over there anyway, but do you want to support the man or the middle man, that's the question.
China will soon own everything -- just give in and accept it already -- life is easier if you eat a bunch of lead paint like your kid did after your pet died from bad food and you turned green since you brushed your teeth with anti-freeze...
Our gov only lets us get poisoned with FDA approved products: hormones, antibiotics, steroids -- all of which go back into the food/water supply and form a perfect circle of nasty...

Quality products made in China are generally produced in Taiwan. Poorer quality products generally come from Hong Kong and other surrounding areas. The textile industry in Taiwan is state-of-the-art as compared to the rest of the world. Taiwanese consider themselves independent of China and their quality products reflect it, but all of the products built there usually say "Made in China". The best outdoor equipment in the US is mostly constructed in Taiwan... Goretex jackets, backpacks, performance tents, down sleeping bags, etc... These products, much like kites, require quality materials, contruction and good quality control... probably the most important factor. You can tell the difference between good Chinese and bad Chinese... just like their food.

Which are the ones where they release all the pollution so the sky is always dark, turn the rivers red, and the children work instead of go to school? -- Oh wait, it's the ones we all buy from...
Sorry to get all on this, but cheap isn't always a good thing since it usually costs a lot from someone (or the environment). Support www.surfrider.org!
