Hi All
I am planning to start kite boarding in the 08 season. What I need help with is gear.
I just want to cruse and later do some wave riding.
I am 41 225 5'11" and located in Sacramento. I plan on going to Rio vista and Folsom Lake. I work in LA a lot and will take my gear with me.
What type of kite and board should I be looking at. I want quality.
I have spoken to a couple of shops and ever one pushes there brands which has just blown my old mind.

For those who go to Sherman and suffer from nasal issues try getting a Neti Pot (looks like a tea pot) which one can put in warm water and salt to wash out the nasal cavity. I use this for allergies and it works great.

I would highly recommend not buying gear until you have had a lesson, your instructor can give you some advice. The gear you buy now will only be cheaper next year when you are ready to use them.

Gear ?

Post by stktek » Sun Sep 30, 2007 6:04 pm

The reason I am asking about gear is because I will be doing my lessons this January in South Africa as I will be working and am able to take a couple of days off. It is very big over there with plenty of places to go.
Check it out.with the exchange rate 7:1 hotels and food are cheap.
What I need to know is what size kite and board I would need at sherman of Folsom.
I will buy my gear once I return.

Hay Joey,

Welcome to kiting!

I too live in Sacramento and would be happy to help you out and "show you the ropes"

We have a great local "crew" that ride Folsom in the Fall till late Spring and then we hit Sherman.

We can all help guide you towards the right gear and if you come down to Folsom we will get a chance to meet and explain some of the details.

I agree that you should wait to buy gear till you are ready to ride on your own after lessons.

Send me a PM with your number and I will put you on our phone tree so you will know when & where it is blowing.
