Re: newbie: kite vs sail ?
Rich,
Thanks for the info and the offer for local kiting connections. I will take the general advice and hold till Spring. My general MO is probably 'so many hobbies, so little time". I'm 2/3 through a 6 year project building an airplane, just took 4 months off from that to build a kayak. I will spend the winter getting more progress on the plane and look forward to the next season to get into kiteboarding. I don't know who to pick from the possible instruction options, so if you have any recommendations there, I'm interested. I'll keep lurking in on the forum to see keep tabs on what's up.

Also, I live in Sacramento and can help introduce you to the local Sac Crew and after you get some lessons in May you can have a great time at Folsom Lake during the off season as it's less than a one hour drive from Davis and it can get pretty good from November till May.
Best to shoot me a PM and we can swap numbers. I will put you on our Wind phone tree. You can come out when it gets windy and help launch and land kites, rigging too... It's all good and great to learn the basics even if your not ready to hit the water.
