Hey everyone,

The North Team will be at Sherman Island today and tomorrow, come out and ride with us and try all the new 08 North gear and meet team riders Sky Solbach and Jon Van Malsen and watch them bust some sweet moves on the water.

Saturday will be the big barbeque and demo which will be loads of fun! You don't want to miss it!!

See you there!

Travis

Apart from wind (and similar to my note on a different thread): will North actually make equipment available to try?

Alameda: a few big kites (in winds 30+), no boards.
Crissy: saw the van, no kites, no boards.

Flipper, why would you not be able to try a kite if there is a demo? Of course you can try kites. It just happened to be too windy at most locations the last few demo days to make it safe. of courseI wasnt at crissy yesterday but that is my take on it. I too am hoping sherman is typical sherman-like a clock!

Just for the record: there is a ton of gear to try, rigged and ready. Yesterday I rode Ken's new raceboard, a 2009 Prototype Rebel 12-meter (as a personal favor and not yet available for mass consumption), a 2008 Rhino 16-meter and a 2008 Rebel 14-meter. Vegas' in every size are there too. Boards a-plenty and kites filled the beach. Yeah it was light wind, but it was great fun too.

Plan on riding anything you choose and then eat and drink and be merry. Oh, BTW, check your launch times with the tower and be prepared to show your season pass to the beach monitor. Non-credentialed riders may be disallowed based on arbitrary criteria (like kite-pants worn outside your wetsuit or launching a sleeping bag with your lines across the inflatables.)

Leash your dogs, clean up your beer bottles and keep your striped-bass tackle at home. Guitars are requested. Refill all medicine kits. Dewey, bring the good stuff...
Go bigga'

Hmmmm, BBQ or sweet south swell... I think I know where one of our regional North riders is going to be. Aw heck, I can't kite today anyway. :|

The North demo at Sherman is on for today! The wind forecast looks great.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Sherman yesterday we had a blast meeting you all and riding with you!

If you want to demo any gear, just ask us. We have tons of gear for you to try. If you see the van and no boards or no kites it means they are on the water being used already or they are in the van. Just tell me, Sky or Jon or any of the local North team riders or local North shop owners that you want to demo something and we will be more than stoked to set it up for you or make sure you get on it as soon as it's available.

Mike has an awesome barbeque planned for us all! Come out and see young gun Jon Van Malsen do his one handed handle pass and see why Sky gets paid the big bucks to travel the world and kiteboard!

Where ever you ride today have fun and be safe!

Sherman island is like disneyland. Even with no wind earlier, Erin, josh and I decided to swing from the halyard of the sunken yacht. What fun. Then, like an ice cream truck on a hot day, the north Van rolled in with all kinds of cool toys. Then the BBQ started to kill the time til the wind picked up. Wind picked up to 18-20ish. lots of smiles out there today. Great people everywhere! You rock. I needed a day like this. And i unexpectedly fell madly in love with the 10 Rebel. By far the smoothest most responsive and instinctive kite I have ever flown, period. I tried the 10 Vegas and it was very crisp feeling. Nothing wierd about the kite this time around. but for my riding style the Rebel had me won over the second i steered it in the air after launch. I tried the Rhino next and found that it is a totally different kite. They really made it what it was intended for this time around-racing and jumping. The 9 had way more power than my 07 10 meter Rhino, dont know how but it does. very stable, smooth, but not a quick turner, especially from coming straight from the Vegas and Rebel.

I needed a good Sherman day, thanks north team and locals for making Sherman island the kiter disneyland it is.
